A STARZ Original Limited Series based on Philippa Gregory’s 2013 novel of the same name, starring Jodie Comer, Jacob Collins-Levy, Michelle Fairley and Essie Davis. Follow-up to the 2013 STARZ/BBC Golden Globe and Emmy award-nominated The White Queen.
The eight part series filmed in purpose-built sets at The Bottle Yard Studios from June – November 2016, also using production offices, additional build space, stores and costume areas on site. Filming took place in location in Bristol, with Bristol Film Office providing unit bases, locations and holding areas for 100 cast extras during a large-scale shoot at Bristol Cathedral.
Karen Bailey, SVP Original Programming, STARZ, said: “We knew from the early location scouts that the natural scenic beauty of the area was a good fit for the production, but seeing the facilities at The Bottle Yard and discovering there was such an strong infrastructure already in place made the decision to shoot in Bristol an easy one.”
The formidable main set, built by Production Designer Will Hughes-Jones, consisted of fifteen interconnected rooms serving as various parts of the Palace of Westminster. It took a crew of 200 working for seven weeks to create, with every detail of the design thoroughly researched.
