A brand new BBC interactive trail has been released, featuring exclusive clips of highly anticipated BBC dramas Poldark and Wolf Hall, which both based production at The Bottle Yard Studios this year. Click on the hotspots to get a first glimpse of the previews.
Eight part series Poldark began its shoot at The Bottle Yard Studios back in April, and wrapped filming last month. In the course of its six month shoot, the sweeping saga shot on-location at a range of sites across Bristol and Cornwall, including historic Chavenage House near Bristol, Prior Park College in Bath, the Cornish town Charlestown and the Botallack Mines at St Just.
Poldark Producer Eliza Mellor said: “The Bottle Yard was a great studio and base for Poldark as it offered all the space and facilities we could have asked for.”
Aidan Turner (The Hobbit Trilogy, Being Human) and Eleanor Tomlinson (Death Comes to Pemberley, The White Queen, Jack The Giant Slayer) star as Ross Poldark and Demelza in Debbie Horsfield’s adaptation of Winston Graham’s acclaimed sweeping saga set in 18thcentury Cornwall, made by Mammoth Screen and directed by Ed Bazalgette (The Guilty, Endeavour).
Six part serial Wolf Hall began production based at The Bottle Yard Studios in May, and wrapped at the beginning of August. During the four month shoot it filmed at a range of locations across the South West including National Trust properties Montacute House, Barrington Court, Lacock Abbey, Great Chalfield Manor, Chastleton House and Horton Court. Other locations included the Cathedrals at Bristol, Wells, Winchester and Gloucester, Broughton Castle near Banbury, Oxfordshire and Dover Castle in Kent.
Producer Mark Pybus said: “The Bottle Yard is the perfect place for us to base Wolf Hall. It is convenient for our locations across the West of England and the adaptable space allows us all the flexibility and facilities we need.”
The adaptation of the Booker Prize-winning bestseller is directed by Peter Kosminsky (The Government Inspector, The Promise) and written by Peter Straughan (The Men Who Stare at Goats, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). Damian Lewis (Homeland) stars opposite Mark Rylance (Jerusalem) as Thomas Cromwell in the flagship drama that charts the meteoric rise of Cromwell in the Tudor court, from his lowly start as a blacksmith’s son to Henry VIII’s closest advisor. Wolf Hall is a co-production of Company Pictures and Playground for BBC TWO and MASTERPIECE in association with BBC Worldwide Prescience and Altus Productions.
Both series will transmit in 2015.
