Calling the Shots, with the High End TV Levy Fund and Creative Skillset are excited to offer a free 2 day course at The Bottle Yard Studios for individuals from all backgrounds and industries who are keen to develop a career in TV drama. No experience necessary, just a passion for great TV drama!
About the course
An intensive 2-day course for new entrants who want to work in high-end TV Drama and Film Production. Participants will learn about the process of making Film and TV dramas and roles within a production crew. The course will give participants a grounding in practicalities and realities of working in the industry and an understanding of entry routes.
Funded by Creative Skillset, this two-day workshop takes place on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th October, 2018. The boot camp will include a visit to a working production set, with a chance to try out a variety of behind-the-camera roles. There will also be a tour of the facilities at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, looking at set building workshops, costume and make up and a range of workshops looking at what it’s like to work as a freelance.
Targeted at over 21s with a range of backgrounds, the workshop aims to give participants a real understanding of the job roles that exist in the TV Drama and Film production sector.
About you
Applicants could have previous experience of short film production, but we also welcome applications from those with film and TV-related experience and transferable skills such as logistics, transport and construction. Other relevant backgrounds include theatre, events, electrical installation and hair and make up.

This free to attend course is funded by a combination of National Lottery funds awarded to Creative Skillset by the British Film Institute to deliver its Future Film Skills programme and receipts from high-end TV drama productions that have contributed to the High-end TV Skills Fund.
