The show’s ‘Kirrin Cottage’ sets were built at The Bottle Yard Studios, where production offices were also based during the second series shoot. Big Trouble on Billycock Hill is the second feature-length episode of The Famous Five Series 2. The first, Mystery at the Prospect Hotel, premiered last Christmas as part of the BBC’s 2024 festive schedule.
Ahead of the Series 2 launch last year, Frith Tiplady, Moonage Pictures MD and Exec Producer, said: “We always jump at the opportunity to take a Moonage Pictures show to Bristol and the South West. The South West is blessed with extremely talented crews we love working with. This teamed with the abundance of fantastic filming locations and The Bottle Yard Studios who have already homed three Moonage shows, with another filming next year, makes Bristol one of the most film friendly cities and regions in the UK.”
The new episode features an exciting guest appearance from Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones) as Gertrude Drachmann, alongside a rare on-screen role for the series’ creator and acclaimed Hollywood director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive).
The Famous Five is a Moonage Pictures, part of ITV Studios and byNWR production for the BBC in the UK, co-produced with The Mediapro Studio. It is series produced by Sophie MacClancy and ‘Big Trouble on Billycock Hill’ is directed by Tom Vaughan and produced by Matthew Wilson.
