We’re excited to share that the latest title to move into production at The Bottle Yard Studios is A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder, adapted from Holly Jackson’s hugely successful mystery thrillers!

Production is based at The Bottle Yard and filming is underway across the South West, including Bristol locations assisted by Bristol Film Office.

Produced by Moonage Pictures (The Pursuit of Love, Obsession, Curfew) for BBC Three, the show’s cast is led by Wednesday star Emma Myers who stars as Pip Fitz-Amobi, opposite newcomer Zain Iqbal as Ravi. The series is adapted by Poppy Cogan (Red Rose) and directed by Dolly Wells (Good Posture).

Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh. Case closed. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it. But smart and single minded Pip Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure and she’s determined to prove it. And if Sal Singh isn’t a murderer and the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?

Holly Jackson says: “I am so unbelievably excited that Emma is our Pip. She is phenomenal and this role was truly always meant to be hers. And we found our perfect Ravi in Zain. I can’t wait for us all to be able to watch their scenes. I smile every time I see them together, because I know that we’ve pulled off the impossible, and Emma and Zain are the only two people I would trust to bring these characters to life. Everyone’s going to be just as thrilled as I am.”

Matthew Read, Executive Producer Moonage Pictures says: “As soon as we read Holly Jackson’s ruthlessly compelling page-turner, we knew it had all the elements of must-see television. We are thrilled that Emma Myers is onboard to play our unique protagonist Pip Fitz-Amobi and we can’t wait to see the brilliant newcomer Zain Iqbal bring Ravi to life on screen in Poppy Cogan’s amazing adaptation.”

Fiona Campbell, Controller of Youth Audience, BBC iPlayer and BBC Three says: “From the moment we announced that A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder is coming to the BBC I know there’s been a huge amount of speculation from fans about who will play Pip and Ravi. In Emma and Zain we’ve found two actors who embody the characters so perfectly it will feel as though they’ve stepped straight from the pages of Holly’s books on to our screens. I can’t wait for BBC Three viewers to see them in action.”

Caroline Stone, Commercial Director of Scripted, BBC Studios says: “Holly Jackson’s novel took the world by storm when it came out in 2019. The world-class casting for this adaptation for television shows the impressive skills and ambition of both Poppy Cogan and our partners at Moonage Pictures to make this an unmissable series for audiences around the world.”

A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder (6 x 45’) is written by lead writer Poppy Cogan alongside Zia Ahmed, Ajoke Ibironke and Ruby Thomas, and is produced by Florence Walker. Executive producers are Matthew Read, Matthew Bouch and Frith Tiplady for Moonage Pictures, with Lucy Richer and Danielle Scott-Haughton for the BBC, and Dolly Wells, Holly Jackson and Poppy Cogan. BBC Studios, who have a minority investment stake in Moonage Pictures, will be handling international distribution of the series.
