Since 2018, our education partners boomsatsuma have delivered a Film & Television Diploma based in their classroom on site here at the Studios.
Open to 16-19 year olds, this OCR Cambridge Technicals Extended Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification equivalent to 3 A Levels and worth up to 168 UCAS tariff points. 20 spaces are available on this course each year, and we particularly encourage applications from young people local to us in South Bristol.
The course offers hands on education and training across filmmaking, TV production, lighting, photography, events management, animation graphic design, production design and sound design.
Students are taught curriculum-facing projects in classrooms on site and are able to access extra opportunities arising from being based in an active TV and film facility, including work placements, behind the scenes set tours, use of facilities and runner positions.

We are also proud to be an industry partner for Bristol Film School at boomsatsuma’s BA (Hons) Filmmaking: Production and BA (Hons) Filmmaking: Post-Production degrees, delivered at the Tobacco Factory in Bedminster. Other industry partners include Films@59 and BBC Bristol.
The courses offer the chance to learn the skills and tools required by industry to make yourself employable on graduation, and develop your own creative practice through a range of practical modules going right across filmmaking and television practice.

South West Make Up Academy
We are also proud to host the South West Make Up Academy on site. Founded in 2024 by industry veterans Marcus Whitney and Kirstie Stanway, the Academy offers Hair, Make-up and SFX courses for those aged 16+ to suit all levels of experience.
Whether you’re still at school considering a career in television and film, or an existing artist looking to brush up on new techniques, their range of 1, 2, and 3-day courses are designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to excel in the industry.
