We are delighted to announce the return of Sky 1 HD’s Trollied, which starts shooting its fourth series at the Studios today, with new cast additions Stephen Tompkinson, Miriam Margolyes (pictured), Aisling Bea and Jack Carroll.

Produced by Roughcut TV, the much loved comedy series made its home at The Bottle Yard Studios in 2011 when it chose the site to house its purpose built, full scale supermarket set. Trollied debuted as the most successful multi-channel comedy ever, and went on to be recomissioned for series two and three and two Christmas specials. Series four will film for the next seven weeks, and will be broadcast later this year.

Stephen Tompkinson (Wild at Heart), Bafta®-winning actress Miriam Margolyes (Harry Potter), Jack Carroll (Britain’s Got Talent) and Aisling Bea (Edinburgh Fringe So You Think You’re Funny Award) join Trollied cast regulars Jason Watkins, Rita May, Carl Rice, Beverly Rudd, Lorraine Cheshire, Faye Mckeever, Victor McGuire and Dominic Coleman, for the new series.

Head of Production at Roughcut TV, Tim Sealey, said:” We’re very happy to return to The Bottle Yard Studios with Trollied 4. The studio works so well for us, it gives us the space to fully realise our supermarket and the support from the studio’s on-site team is top notch. It feels like we are coming home.”

Fiona Francombe, The Bottle Yard Studios’ Managing Director said: “We’re delighted to welcome Trollied back to The Bottle Yard Studios. Three years ago Roughcut TV recognised the potential of the vast space we have to offer here, when they built their fantastically convincing supermarket set. Since then they’ve added three smaller sets and a full Production Village, including dressing rooms, make up and costume facilities. The team has established a real home with us, and we love having them back for every new series.”

Trollied takes place in the fictional supermarket of Valco in Warrington, where the hapless staff deal with the everyday problems of running a value supermarket in the north west of England. The show explores the relationships between the staff, customers and managers as romances and rivalries blossom on the shop floor.

The eight part series is commissioned by Sky’s Head of Comedy, Lucy Lumsden and Sky 1’s Director Adam MacDonald. It is Exec Produced for Roughcut TV by Ash Atalla (The Office, The IT Crowd) and Jon Mountague for Sky.
