Scripted film and TV production company Panache Pictures is the latest addition to The Bottle Yard Studios’ creative hub of tenant businesses in South Bristol.
Panache Pictures is a newly established scripted production company founded by experienced local Series Producer Joanna Crow, whose critically acclaimed credits include Netflix’s Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials and BBC psychological thriller Chloe – both filmed at The Bottle Yard Studios and on location in the South West – as well as Rapman’s BAFTA-nominated Supacell.

Founder Joanna Crow says: “Panache is thrilled to be joining the creative community at The Bottle Yard Studios at an exciting time of opportunity for the region. We love filming at the Studios with its amazing support, facilities and excellent local talent available across the South West. Having witnessed their supportive infrastructure first hand, moving in was the logical next step.”
Panache’s Head of Production is Ian Hogan, who has line produced or co-produced a wide range of HETV series throughout a successful freelance career including award-winning titles Black Mirror (Netflix) and Downton Abbey (Masterpiece), plus numerous credits made in Bristol and the South West, including BBC comedy drama Boarders, Masterpiece period drama Sanditon and Emily Mortimer’s BBC adaptation of The Pursuit of Love.
The company’s Development Producer is local talent Gemma Wright, who moved into development and producing after two and a half years assisting Stephen Merchant on BBC/Amazon Studios’ The Outlaws and has since produced on BBC drama Waterloo Road. Prior to this Gemma’s freelance credits as an experienced AD included South West-made titles Broadchurch (ITV), The Salisbury Poisonings (BBC), Poldark (BBC) and Sanditon (Masterpiece), plus feature films Charlie’s Angels and Oscar-winning biopic Judy starring Renée Zellweger.
Katherine Nash, The Bottle Yard’s Head of Studios, adds: “We are delighted to welcome Panache Pictures to our on-site business community at The Bottle Yard. Joanna, Ian and Gemma are well known to us given the array of titles they have made at the Studios over past years. With their combined expertise, in-depth understanding of scripted production in the region, and proven commitment to working sustainably and widening skills pathways for local entrants, we’re excited for what the future holds.”
